Shonen Jump
From Dragon Ball Encyclopedia
Shonen Jump was a monthly North American adaptation of a weekly Japanese shōnen manga anthology, Weekly Shōnen Jump. Shonen Jump was retooled for English readers and the American audience, including changing it from a weekly publication to a monthly one. This collection of publications was among one of the first times the Dragon Ball manga was distributed in North America.
Published by Viz Media, this magazine made its debut on November 26, 2002. The final issue was the April 2012 edition. Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha is the newest publication.
Shojo Beat was Shonen Jump's sister publication.
[edit] Content
The content of the magazine featured manga from several various series, such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, One Piece, Naruto, and Sand Land. The manga was left unaltered in terms of panel layout as the entire publication was read from right to left as it would be in Japan. The magazine, however, was not a "word for word" copy and some titles were edited for content.
