DBGT Episode 55

The Heart of the Prince is the eighth episode of the Shadow Dragon Saga and the fifty-fifth overall episode of Dragon Ball GT.

Summary

Through the years Vegeta, Prince of Saiyans, was forced to bear the burden of being second best to Son Goku. And though Vegeta and Goku set aside their differences many years ago and became friends, Vegeta once again recalls the bitterness towards Goku that was once within him. He remembers how when he first met Goku, that he did not think he could be beaten by a lower class Saiyan, and yet he was. Then he recalls all the times he surpassed Goku, only to have Goku find a higher level and surpass him once again. Vegeta begins to question whether it is his destiny to always be second best. After straightening his thoughts out, Vegeta grabs a soda and heads out to see Bulma Brief, who is working on her computer. They watch a replay of the battle between Goku and Vegeta (when the latter was possessed by Baby) and make an astonishing discovery... a way for Vegeta to reach the same battle power as Goku – Super Saiyan 4! Bulma even began to joke that Vegeta could reach Super Saiyan 5, but first they made it a goal to have Vegeta reach Super Saiyan 4 and finally be even with Goku.

"Vegeta tries to leave for the fight, but Bulma convinces him to stay. She says that she's working on something that will help him. While she's preparing the device, Vegeta reminisces about Goku; everything from their first fight, to Goku's fight with Frieza, to their fight when he was Majin Vegeta, to their fight with Kid Buu. Bulma explains that after Goku was bombarded with the earth's Blutz Waves on the Tuffle planet, he transformed into an Oozaru. Pan helped him become conscious of himself, and this made him transform again into the final Super Saiyan 4 stage. Since Vegeta is already conscious of himself as an Oozaru, he just needs to be bombarded with Blutz Waves to become a Super Saiyan 4. He wasn't able to do it on the Tuffle planet because he wasn't a pure Saiyan then, since Baby was possessing him.
