Tapion playing his Flute.

Flutes are musical instruments.

History

Flutes appeared in Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon. During the Hirudegarn war, Tapion and Minotia were given enchanted Flutes to play in order to distract Hirudegarn long enough for a Conutsian Priest to cleave the monster in two with a powerful and enchanted sword. These Flutes were somehow able to create a tune that soothed the rage within Hirudegarn. Tapion noted that neither he nor his brother knew how to play them and that the instruments simply gave off the melody once blown into.

Over one-thousand years later, after Tapion had been released from his Music Box, Hoi attempted to steal and break the Flute so that it could not be used to stop Hirudegarn once he was fully freed from Tapion's body. Hoi failed, however, and Tapion later used the instrument against Hirudegarn, which eventually failed. The instrument was shattered upon Hirudegarn's escape from Tapion's body.

Trivia

  • Flutes often appear in the The Legend of Zelda video game series. The appearance of the Flutes in Wrath of the Dragon adds further ties between Tapion's family and Link from The Legend of Zelda.
  • In the Budokai Tenkaichi video game series, Tapion has a Blast 1 technique named the Hero's Flute where Tapion plays a tune on his Flute to produce a magic barrier.
