Roshi (老師, Rōshi) made his debut in Dragonball: Evolution – the first of a possible trilogy of live action Dragon Ball films. He is an adaptation of Muten Roshi, the inventor of the Kamehameha technique in Akira Toriyama's franchise, and is portrayed by Chow Yun-Fat.
Roshi was the former student of Master Mutaito, the martial artist responsible for sealing Lord Piccolo away for centuries. In Dragonball: Evolution, he accepted Goku as his pupil, but not before going on the quest to find the seven Dragon Balls before Piccolo could find them. Goku accidentally kills him while transformed as Oozaru. He was wished back to life with the Dragon Balls.
