The Dark Kinto Un (ダーク 筋斗雲, Dāku Kintōun; FUNimation "Dark Nimbus") is a black, magical cloud that serves as a vehicle.

History

The Dark Kinto Un was an alternate version of the more widely known Kinto Un. Unlike the Kinto Un, the Dark Kinto Un could carry people of an impure nature. Much like the Kinto Un, its primary function was a mode of transportation for one or more people. Presumably, it could also be used to carry cargo if the need arose. It looked exactly like the Kinto Un, but was dark blue in color. Karin could also change the Dark Kinto Un from a solid to a gas in order to make its cargo or passenger(s) fall straight through, much like someone of impure nature attempting to ride the Kinto Un.

Dragon Ball

In a filler portion of Dragon Ball, the Dark Kinto Un was lent to Tao Pai Pai after he had climbed Karin Tower and drank Karin's Sacred Water (which was actually just ordinary water). This was done to ensure that Tao would gain no further strength on his way down as the true enhancement to one's self from Karin Tower came from the ascent of, training within, and descent of the tower. Half-way down, Karin let the cloud drop Tao, thus causing the mercenary to crash into the ground at high velocity. This was the only appearance of the cloud in the series. It is unknown whether or not there was a huge cloud containing multiple Dark Kinto Un like there was with the Kinto Un.

The Dark Kinto Un was never used or mentioned in the manga.

Video games

Black Nimbus is collection item No. 5 in Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure. Kuririn used the Dark Kinto Un in the flying stages of his Story mode (due to the fact that Kuririn was "impure"). As Kuririn's Story mode had no actual storyline or cut-scenes, it is never explained how he obtained the Dark Kinto Un.

The Dark Nimbus competed against the Flying Nimbus in a pre-fight minigame to see who could get the most Capsules in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast.
