Garlic (film character)

Garlic (ガーリック, Gārikku; FUNimation "Garlic") is a Makyan.

Garlic's name is a pun on the word Garlic.

Biography

Garlic competed against Kami for the throne of Kami of Planet Earth. Kami was chosen by the former Kami of Planet Earth over Garlic because, unlike Kami, Garlic held evil ambitions that soon became apparent. Garlic resented the decision and created an army of evil Demons which he led right to the Heavenly Realm in order to overthrow him. According to Kami, his predecessor cast Garlic and his Demons into the realm of darkness called the Dead Zone, a negative space from which he would never return. The Namekian succeeded the previous Kami (who had died from old age) sometime after Garlic's defeat, and Garlic's young son, Garlic Jr., blamed Kami for his father's demise. He also harbored a hatred of Piccolo both because he was Kami's evil half's son and because Piccolo's lifeline was linked with Kami's own after Son Goku killed his Piccolo's father in battle. Garlic Jr. also harbored a hatred of Goku because he was a friend and former pupil of Kami, and Goku's son, Son Gohan, for preventing Garlic Jr. from avenging his father on two known occasions.

Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone

A flashback in Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone and during the Garlic Jr. Saga recapped the scene of Garlic forcefully trying to take the throne and revealed that Garlic was sealed in a dark orb in a similar fashion that Kami and Mister Popo were captured and contained in clear bottles by Garlic Jr. The Dark Crystal was a star dodecahedron (3-dimensional Star-of-David shape) and opaque and pitch black. One may infer that Garlic was kept in that orb for the remainder of his life.

Techniques

Garlic's Demon Explosion

• Bukujutsu – Garlic is able to fly because he is equal to Kami.
• Dead Zone
• Demon Explosion – Garlic retracts his full power to within his body and then expels the amount of pure ki in the blink of an eye, causing a pink shockwave of ki energy which causes great damage and confusion to his opponent.
• Finger Wave – Garlic could launch energy waves from his finger to attack his opponents at a distance.
• Ki Blast
• Transformation – Garlic is also able to transform into a larger form because he is Garlic Jr.'s father. His body obtains a darker color and enormous muscles, thus increasing his battle power (in his case, the transformation might be even larger than his son's transformation due to his son being as tall as a male child and he being a full grown male adult).
