Namekian Frog

Namekian Frogs were a species of Frogs found on Planet Namek and appeared very similar to those found on Earth. The Frogs on Planet Namek looked similar to the Frogs of Earth except that they had antennas and a tail. They were usually a blue-green color with spots, but at least one female Frog was pink and had lipstick.

The most notable Frog was the one that Ginyu switched bodies with. When Ginyu was about to switch bodies with Vegeta, Goku threw the Frog in front of Vegeta, causing Ginyu to switch bodies with it. The Frog in Ginyu's body hoped away, while Ginyu could only say, "Ribbit" and thus could not switch bodies again. Vegeta spared his life so he would not get Frog guts all over his boots.

Ginyu was later seen being chased by a female Frog which eventually kissed him.

Bulma encountered several Frogs during the fight against Freeza, and immediately disliked them all except for one, which of course was Ginyu. Once she put a translator on him, Ginyu took advantage of the opportunity and switched bodies with Bulma, leaving her trapped in the body of the Frog. They both arrived at the scene where Goku was fighting against Freeza, but when Ginyu was found out and tried to switch with Piccolo Jr., Son Gohan threw Bulma the Frog in the way and Ginyu was a Frog once again. At the conclusion of the Frieza Saga, he was brought to Earth by a wish with the Dragon Balls and became the leader of the fish pond at Capsule Corporation, while the Frog in Ginyu's body remained in the forest.

Ginyu was seen again during the Cell Games Saga in front of Son Goku's House with tears in his eyes during the time Gohan blew out his candles (and the entire cake). He was also picked up by Gohan during the Great Saiyaman Saga when Sharpner attempted to unmask him (and Gohan picking up Ginyu stopped Sharpner from unmasking him, sailing over Gohan's head and landing on the ground).

Both were killed when Kid Buu blew up Earth. Presumably, the Namekian Frog was revived in its original body.

It is often assumed that Ginyu the Frog could be seen with the other villains escaping from Hell in Fusion Reborn in the scene where Gohan kills Freeza. The Frog in this scene, however, looks more like Medamatcha's Medas from Lord Slug.

[edit] Trivia

  • Slightly re-colored versions of the Namekian Frog appear as regular enemies in Dragon Ball: Origins despite the fact that they are not meant to be on Earth yet.
