Clash of the Super Powers is the thirteenth episode of the Frieza Saga and the eighty-eighth overall episode in the uncut version Dragon Ball Z series. The original Japanese title is "Gekitotsu no Ni Dai Cho Pawa! Honki Doshi no Nikudan Sen!!!" (激突の2大超パワー! 本気同士の肉弾戦!!!).The episode first aired on May 1, 1991. It's original American air date was October 7, 1999.

The battle between Goku and Frieza continues. Back on Earth, Chi-Chi is packing her bags ready to go on the newly created ship to rescue her son Gohan from Namek. The characters that are there with her are trying to persuade her not to go. It seemed like she would stay when they reminded of what happened last time on the ship but Dr. Briefs comes in and announces that the ship is fixed. The other characters are enraged.

On Namek, Frieza finally clicks on that Goku was the one who killed the Ginyu Force and not Vegeta. When they continue fighting, Frieza manages to knock Goku down into the water. Whilst down there Goku realises that Frieza can't sense where Goku is. This gives Goku an idea which involves him inventing the Feint Kamehameha blasting them at Frieza whilst sneaking from behind. The plan works and Goku manages to send Frieza to the ground.

Frieza announces that Goku has been the first to inflict him pain other than his own parents. Continuing the battle, Frieza sends a large amount of rocks at Goku with only his mind doing the work. Goku easily dodges the rocks and sends a blast that destroys them all. Frieza reacts to this by sending a much larger piece of rock flying towards Goku. This isn't as easily dealt with by Goku, sending him crashing into another large piece of earth. Goku manages to escape though, only for Frieza to trap Goku in his Imprisonment Ball.

Frieza knocks Goku around like a volleyball and teases Goku with it. One touch by something other than Frieza and it would explode. Finally this does happen turning the land around the Z fighters into sand. Gohan and Krillin start to doubt if Goku survived the blast but Piccolo realises that Goku wasn't in any danger. Goku realises he shouldn't make any further mistakes. Frieza looks on, a shocked look on his face. Frieza speaks in his native language saying "Let's get down to business" ending the episode.
