"The End of Vegeta" is the eleventh episode of the Frieza Saga and the eighty-sixth overall episode in the uncut version of Dragon Ball Z.

Synopsis[edit]

Vegeta meeting his end at the hands of Freeza.

Freeza continues to pummel Vegeta, while strangling him with his tail. Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan know that they can no longer save Vegeta and look on in horror. Vegeta is launched at a rock and falls to the ground. Frieza lifts him up slightly and prepares to give him the final blow. Suddenly, Goku appears, ready for battle. Despite the warning Piccolo gives him, he walks towards Frieza, preparing to finish the fight the Saiyan prince could not. Frieza recognizes Goku as Bardock's (the Saiyan that tried to challenge him, right before Planet Vegeta was destroyed) son, and fires a series of powerful finishing rays at him. With one hand Goku deflects all the blasts away from his friends. Frieza is stunned, especially when Vegeta claims that Goku is the one who is a Super Saiyan. Frieza gets angry and fires his Death Beam through Vegeta's chest. Vegeta then explained to Goku how he had been under Frieza's control since he was a small boy, he begs Goku to destroy Frieza, and dies. Goku promises to carry out Vegeta's wish to the best of his abilities, and digs a grave for his former rival, then Goku challenges Frieza.

Errors[edit]

There are many errors in the artwork in this episode, including, but without limitation, the following:

  • At the beginning, Krillin is seen standing alongside Piccolo and Gohan, but his armor is completely intact, despite having been skewed by Second Form Frieza earlier in the saga.
  • When Vegeta was thrown into the hill, the back of his armor was significantly damaged. For the rest of the series, until he disposed of this armor, the back was completely intact, except for the hole that Krillin blasted through him.
  • Even in the front, right before he died, there were several cracks in his armor, allegedly from the beating he took from Frieza, that were gone when he was revived by Shenron.
  • After Frieza impales Vegeta with his Death Beam, a giant hole in the ground is seen in front of Goku, with no explanation as to its origins. Later in the episode, Goku would fire an invisible ki blast out of his eyes to dig a hole to bury Vegeta in, despite the fact that he had a hole right in front of him to do so.
