Oolong, Bulma, and Son Goku rode in their jet car getting closer to the One-Star Ball when Oolong asked Bulma about her wish. Bulma revealed she was planned to wish for a boyfriend. Oolong then started an argument in which he said that he had been risking his life for a stupid kind of wish. Behind them, Yamucha and Puar still followed behind them. Over in Pilaf's Castle, Pilaf threatened Mai to fix a Dragon Ball locator by the count of 10 or she would be fed to some Alligators. Mai distracted Pilaf from counting to 10 several times until she fixed the machine. She detected a Dragon Ball near them and Shu followed the directions she read out. When Shu found the Dragon Ball, Pilaf hit him on the head and said that the one they had found was the One-Star Ball that he already owned. Pilaf told them to find Goku, and Mai informed him it was taken care of as a robotic Bird landed in the window.

As Goku, Bulma, and Oolong passed through an area with mushroom trees, Mai, who stood on top of a mushroom tree, told Pilaf by radio that a car had driven by sector F-15. Meanwhile, Oolong stopped the car after Bulma said he had been useless during the adventure. Shu, who was piloting a robot, destroyed the car and stole Bulma's capsule case which had the Dragon Balls in them.

After Shu and Mai headed back to Pilaf's castle using their plane mech, Goku called the Kinto Un and looked for the robot. The robot had been left behind by Shu, and Goku found and attacked it thinking it was an automonous robot. The robot fell over and Goku assumed it was dead. When Bulma found out that Goku did not find the Dragon Balls, she was very sad and cried. Goku cheered Bulma up when he said that they had not taken his Dragon Ball which he was carrying with him. She said they could use her Dragon Radar to find the other Dragon Balls using capsules. She then became sad and cried again after she realized the capsules she had gotten in town were in the case that had been stolen. Yamucha then made a brave move and offered them a ride. On their way, Bulma told Yamucha and Puar to close their eyes as she checked the Dragon Radar (not knowing that they already knew about the Dragon Balls). Yamucha mistook this as Bulma wanting to kiss him and turned red when he closed his eyes. Bulma said that the Dragon Balls were 25 kilometers to the west.

Back at Pilaf's castle, Pilaf danced with a globe of Earth as he told Mai and Shu that he finally had all of the Dragon Balls. They informed him that he had only six of them. Suddenly, their new detector beeped and showed a Dragon Ball approaching the castle. Goku, Oolong, Bulma, Yamucha, and Puar arrived at the castle and entered it. They ran into Bats and a big Spider when Pilaf finally enacted his first trap. Pilaf's first trap was a failure, but then the group slowly followed a series of glowing arrows on the floor. Oolong and Puar decided on being friends for the day. The whole group ended up in a dead end when a wall came down and closed off the route behind them. Pilaf laughed inside his control room.

Differences from the manga

Filler

  • Pilaf making Mai fix his Dragon Ball locator quickly and threatening to feed her to the Alligators. Mai keeps distracting him with questions to make him lose count in order to buy her more time. A robotic bird comes through the window.

Inconsistencies

  • When Pilaf raids Bulma's suitcase, several different clothes are seen flying out when the only pair of clothes Bulma should have are the ones she is currently wearing.
  • Pilaf is seen dancing around with a globe, but the globe is in the shape of the real world Earth and not the Dragon World version of Earth. This is probably because it is early in the series and the Dragon Ball universe has not been fully developed.

Trivia

  • This is the first non-filler appearance of Pilaf and his minions.
  • This is the first time in the entire series where the Dragon Balls have been successfully stolen by a villain.
  • This is the first episode to not have a true battle in it.

"On their way to the final Dragon Ball, Goku, Bulma, and Oolong's car is hit by a rocket, shot from Shu. He then, jumps down and runs off with Bulma's suitcase, which contains their Dragon Balls. Goku tries to follow, but loses him. Luckily, Goku still has the Four-Star Ball, so Pilaf can't make his wish. Left with no choice, Yamcha is forced to help them, and gives them a ride. When they arrive at Pilaf's castle, they walk inside, but become trapped." cannot be used as a page name in this wiki.
